Who Attends Defcon Biohacking Village?
Defcon, the world’s premiere hacker conference, provides an environment for technologists of all types to come together and share information about how technology works and can be broken. Attendees at this year’s Defcon include hackers, cybersecurity specialists, engineers and anyone with an interest in how things operate – as well as talks, workshops and hands-on villages which allow attendees to explore various topics.
The Biohacking Village at Hackaday can be seen as the hub for medical devices and healthcare. Here, live demonstrations and exhibits, specialized talks, as well as actual devices are demonstrated and participants experimented with to see how they were built, as well as possible vulnerabilities to fix. At Defcon attendees can explore Artificial Intelligence (AI) village, which explores its use in security and how responsible use can make AI even more useful. Furthermore, this village features an immersive competition in which participants are immersed into an imaginary technological world that has been compromised by attacks.
For an engaging yet less serious experience, the r00tz Asylum provides DEF CON’s youngest attendees a safe space where they can learn white-hat hacking from top researchers from around the globe. Kids learn soldering, lock picking, reverse engineering and cryptography all within an engaging and exciting learning experience.

Defcon is an epic event and an annual pilgrimage for many hackers. Starting as just a handful of people meeting at a hotel, Defcon has grown into the largest hacker conference on earth – now with thousands attending from all corners of the globe!
