How Low Frequency Therapy Benefits Pain Management

Studies show that patients suffering from mental illnesses are more likely to make progress and achieve recovery when starting therapy with an appropriate frequency. One such study demonstrated this when borderline personality disorder patients received additional sessions versus those who did not.

HF TENS works by stimulating deeper tissue afferents to produce analgesia. By selecting higher pulse amplitudes, you can effectively decrease pain intensity without overstimulating nerves.

Increased Circulation

Low frequency therapy frequencies stimulate tissue cells to produce nitric oxide, which dilates blood vessels, increasing circulation throughout the body and relieving pain and inflammation. Increased circulation also speeds healing of injuries faster while decreasing fluid build-up in the body – an approach which is effective at treating conditions like fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, chronic back pain and more.

Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) is a condition in which the blood pressure in the arteries that provide oxygen to the lungs is too high, leading to shortness of breath and heart palpitations as well as difficulty treating. Drug therapies do not successfully reduce pulmonary vascular resistance enough for effective management.

Research has demonstrated that exposure to low-frequency ultrasound can alter physiological parameters in the pulmonary system in a manner similar to long-term oxygen treatment. When anesthetised sheep were exposed to this ultrasound treatment for 7 minutes, an anesthetic effect caused a 10% change in blood oxygen concentration and decrease in pulse rate – both observed changes that mirror its effects in humans.

Researchers discovered that exposure to low-frequency ultrasound increased the permeability of pulmonary alveoli to gaseous substances. This effect is believed to be caused by acoustic cavitation, where ultrasound waves interact with gas microbubbles present in liquid exposed by an ultrasound transducer and cause them to rupture into bubbles that form on surface of liquid surface irradiated with ultrasonic waves.

Ultrasound waves can produce acoustic cavitation by matching the microbubble resonant frequencies with those of an ultrasound transducer’s excitation frequency, leading to their rapid dispersal from their host molecules and rapid ejection, increasing drug delivery into the pulmonary system and thus improving clinical outcomes.

Reduced Inflammation

Studies of Ultra-Low Frequency (ULF) therapy have demonstrated its potential to aid with pain management. The treatment works by blocking nerve pain signals from reaching the brain, leading to an apparent reduction in participants’ perceptions of pain. Researchers believe ULF treatments could provide a safe and effective means of treating chronic discomfort without the side effects associated with medications or opioids.

Acoustic cavitation generated by low frequency ultrasound transducers is used to disperse inflammatory substances within the body, in a similar fashion to breaking down gas bubbles when they’re rubbed against. This allows for quick and efficient delivery of therapeutic agents – as demonstrated by [31], who showed that ULF therapy’s acoustic energy could increase skin permeability to drugs such as salicylic acid by up to 1,000 times more than traditional 1 MHz ultrasound does.

Other studies have demonstrated that low-frequency ultrasound produces acoustic waves which increase vascular endothelial growth factor levels, which promote cell differentiation and migration, leading to remodeling of blood vessels. Furthermore, this therapy increases endothelial expression of nitric oxide which relaxes blood vessels for improved blood flow and reduced inflammation.

Studies of patients suffering from pulmonary hypertension found that low-frequency ultrasound therapy significantly lowered their systolic blood pressure within seven minutes, as well as increasing oxygen concentration levels and decreasing pulse rates.

Low-frequency ultrasound produces acoustic waves that stimulate vasodilation response, an essential part of treating pulmonary hypertension. This therapy may increase survival rates of patients as opposed to conventional vasodilator drugs which do not selectively reduce pulmonary vascular resistance, low-frequency ultrasound does not cause systemic hypotension and right ventricular desaturation compared with vasodilators drugs.

Strengthened Muscles

Atrophy occurs when muscles are left without regular use and this is often the source of pain and mobility issues. Low frequency therapy stimulates muscle contractions to avoid atrophy and encourage stronger, healthier muscles.

Electrical stimulation therapy (EMS) is an electrotherapy procedure which uses electrical impulses to stimulate nerves and muscle tissue. It’s often used to treat injuries, chronic backache and shoulder discomfort as well as supplement other treatment modalities like exercise or manual therapy in order to maximize recovery.

EMS devices allow for fine-tuning of both pulse width and amplitude for optimum use. You can alter this setting to increase or decrease intensity depending on patient comfort, while altering amplitude helps maximize muscle contraction quality.

A physiotherapist can assist in selecting the ideal setting and monitoring your progress throughout your treatments, monitoring whether exercise becomes easier and you experience less pain after several sessions. Furthermore, their frequencies promote endorphin production to alleviate muscle relaxation and healing – this non-invasive therapy has proven its worth treating conditions such as fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis of the knee, neck degenerative disease, rheumatoid arthritis, spinal canal stenosis herniated discs as well as other muscle and ligament injuries.

Reduced Pain

Low frequency therapy not only assists in increasing muscle mass but can also reduce pain by blocking signals traveling from nerves to the brain, such as those caused by nerve damage (shingles or spinal cord injuries). Furthermore, low frequency therapy helps increase mobility by stimulating blood circulation and eliminating toxins from the body – particularly beneficial for people suffering from arthritis or fibromyalgia.

Low frequency therapy (LFT) is a non-invasive, non-pharmacological pain relief method which uses interferential current to block pain signals to the brain and significantly decrease both acute and chronic pain conditions. Studies have proven LFT effective as both an alternative to prescription painkillers as well as in combination with other therapies like physical therapy.

To assess the efficacy of personal low-frequency stimulation device on neck, shoulder, and back pain in 39 patients randomly assigned either to physical therapy group or personal low-frequency stimulation group. Subjective pain intensity was evaluated using visual analog scale (VAS) and short form McGill pain questionnaire (SF-MPQ). Results demonstrated that PLSG significantly decreased both sEMG activity in neck, shoulder, and back areas as well as score on SF-MPQ questionnaire.

All tested frequencies (1 kHz to 10 Hz) showed effective subperception analgesia, with all programs showing 66-72% reduction of back and leg pain. 400 Hz proved optimal for providing both pain relief and improved function – these results demonstrate that this personal device may offer an alternative form of traditional pain management suitable for home settings.

Studies conducted at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, GA revealed that an electrical stimulator called Axon Therapy is highly effective at relieving neuropathic pain. This small yet portable electrical stimulator delivers pulsed magnetic low-frequency electric fields to spine and surrounding tissues to reduce discomfort. Operation is simple; frequencies can even be customized to achieve maximum effectiveness.
