How It Works

Reiki practitioners are trained to use specific hand positions to channel universal life force energy to their clients. Once attuned, practitioners can either place their hands directly onto their client or learn second-degree Reiki so they can access someone’s energetic essence and heal remotely.
Distance Reiki sessions involve using intention and visualization to connect with their recipient. Practitioners use either imagery of their client or writing down their name as a proxy to transmit energy directly. Some practitioners utilize special crystals or objects that act as amplifiers of energy for extra strengthening. Surrogate sessions are another popular form of distant Reiki; practitioners work alongside friends or family members who accept energy on behalf of their client.
After each session is complete, both practitioner and client engage in a discussion about what was experienced. Depending on their preferences, this might involve brief dialogue or email exchange where details of any experience that have come up are discussed further. During the Session
At a remote session, we will speak briefly before beginning Reiki treatment via phone or video call. This gives clients an opportunity to share any intentions for their session as well as any questions that arise during our discussion. After this conversation is concluded they will be asked to turn off devices and lie in a comfortable position while listening to relaxing music or mediating during treatment, though neither are required.
While the energy is flowing through their bodies, clients may experience anything from warmth to tingling to relaxation. Some clients report feeling relief from emotional patterns as well as increased clarity regarding their life path after sessions; other clients don’t experience much at all but this doesn’t indicate that treatment didn’t work.
Reiki healings work on all levels – physical, emotional and spiritual bodies alike. To address a specific area I ask recipients to think about what may be going on there and visualize sending Reiki directly there – for instance if an issue relates to their physical body I might ask them to visualize a golden light filling their entire being with healing golden light which works its magic on any tired or hurting areas.
I may also ask them to visualize connecting with their spirit and feeling an abundance of healing energy from within themselves, which flows out and heals all parts of themselves. Reiki’s powerful yet gentle healing energy may inspire transformational changes that improve wellbeing, helping individuals live more fulfilled lives. Typically after experiencing one session people emerge feeling deeply relaxed and refreshed – perhaps inspired to make changes that support wellbeing or fulfill life goals more easily. This practice can especially beneficial during times of major life transition such as marriage, divorce, job loss or illness as it offers support during difficult transitional times such as these events as well.

At least, this is what most people experience during a Reiki session, although individual experiences vary. Some don’t feel anything while others experience warmth in their arms, hands and feet; some experience tingling; while still others perceive pressure or sensations similar to being held, and yet still others don’t experience much during a session at all. Overall though, most participants typically report feeling relaxed and peaceful after finishing.
After receiving Reiki energy treatments, many experience an immediate sense of clarity and optimism. This is due to how Reiki stimulates the release of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual toxins which have built up over time in your body; additionally it removes obstacles which prevent you from reaching your goals.
