Biohacking has quickly become an innovative trend for health, fitness, longevity and functional and preventative medicine – and its recent popularity raises significant ethical and societal questions as evidenced by Aaron Traywick’s tragic death.
We talked to some top daily biohackers to understand how they optimize their lives, with morning routine and nutrigenomics among their key strategies for success.
What is Biohacking?
While biohacking might sound dangerous or extreme, it actually refers to finding safe ways to optimize one’s health and performance. Biohacking involves experimenting with various methods; some are supported by science while others still need further study. Biohacking often works best in combination with healthy living practices and holistic wellness plans that support wellness goals such as weight loss, increased energy, focus and concentration improvement, decreased inflammation/pain reduction, immunity enhancement or simply prioritising personal wellbeing and well-being.
Utilizing tools such as blood tests and gene maps, biohackers can gain valuable insights into their bodies and how they work. By altering diet, exercise routines, supplements, habits and routines they can maximize performance of their bodies while using wearable tech to monitor factors like blood sugar levels, hormones, heart rate and sleep patterns.
Many people may already be biohacking without realizing it, especially those using fitness trackers and smartwatches to monitor their health metrics. Others could also be taking cognitive-enhancing supplements or drugs, eating a high-protein, low-carb diet, meditating regularly or attending sauna sessions regularly.
But this term is being misused by those who do not follow scientific research or take the time to investigate if an intervention is safe and effective for them. These individuals risk their lives by using supplements without supporting research evidence or undertaking potentially risky procedures, like getting young blood infusions.
Biohackers may not have scientific backgrounds, but their motivation for bettering themselves and exploring different ideas and solutions drives their pursuit. Tim Gray from London biohacked his health when doctors could not identify what was causing fatigue and chronic pain; now running London’s largest health optimization meetup group as well as regularly appearing on podcasts discussing practical health hacks; also, as founder of Health Optimisation Summit, Tim advises influencers and wellness specialists globally on how they can maximize their own wellness.
What is the Biohacker Summit?
The Biohacker Summit brings together world-class speakers, cutting-edge exhibitors, and thousands of attendees for a deep examination of self-improvement and holistic health. Speakers provide their insight on recent trends and discoveries regarding longevity, peak performance, mental wellbeing, genetic optimization, age reversal, cellular repair and other fascinating subjects.
Attendees can experience the latest technologies and supplements through 25+ immersive experience zones – such as nutrient injections or hyperbaric chambers – that give attendees a firsthand taste. Last year’s event witnessed over 50,000 interactions between attendees and exhibitors that created an inspiring sense of community that motivates and inspires.
One attendee described it as an “exhilarating journey towards a brighter, healthier tomorrow.” Previous attendees enjoyed meeting luminaries such as Jonas Bergqvist for fasting protocols; Veli-Jussi Jalkanen’s saddle chairs which improve posture while taking pressure off genitalia during sitting for better quality of sex; Olli Sovijarvi of Finland has worked in over 50 clinics and emergency rooms offering holistic medicine; Katia Vega of makeup tech company Intelleo; and Mattias Ribbing was mind blowing when recalling detail from any given page of Swedish newspaper!
Tracking and monitoring progress is central to biohacking, which means understanding your body’s biomarkers. Matthew Dawson will present “Biomarker Testing for Your Biohacking Journey”, offering attendees the best methods of using biomarker testing for personal development.
Biomarker testing can provide an easy and straightforward way to assess your current cellular age, rate of aging, organ health status and any imbalances or deficiencies with just a simple saliva sample test. Not only will you learn how to use these tests but you may even have the chance of winning an amazing wellness tool called TruAge epigenetic testing system!
