Overindulging on food and alcohol often results in hangovers. To minimise hangovers and give your body the restful recovery it deserves, there are a few simple strategies that can be implemented to lessen them.
Odin’s twist can give regulators headaches.
1. Drink water
Drinking water is the ideal way to ease hangover symptoms and avoid relapse. Alcohol dehydrates you, interrupting sleep patterns; sipping on some water helps flush your system out and balance hormone levels in your system.
Quality spring or reverse osmosis water should be your top choice to reduce stress on the liver by providing essential minerals that may have been lost from consumption of alcohol beverages. This is especially important if you drink heavily.
Water isn’t only an essential health hack; it’s also one of the most effective strategies for combatting hangovers and widely available, making it an easy, cheap, and safe solution. Unfortunately, too few people drink enough to mitigate its effects – leading to unnecessary suffering and regret later on. If you want to be your best self, start drinking more water now – you’ll thank yourself later for keeping yourself hydrated while avoiding headaches associated with alcohol!
2. Stay hydrated
People suffering from hangovers are usually dehydrated. Alcohol causes their bodies to produce more urine, leading them to lose essential water and electrolytes that their bodies require – leading to thirst, fatigue, dizziness and headaches as a result.
Drinking water can help stave off hangovers. If you plan on imbibing alcohol, remember to drink lots of water throughout the day prior and during your evening out. Alternating drinks between alcoholic and non-alcoholic can also help.
Sleep well after drinking alcohol to avoid getting a hangover. Sleep disturbance can contribute to this symptom and should be minimized whenever possible, in order to awaken feeling refreshed and reduce severity of any potential hangover symptoms that may appear.
3. Eat a healthy meal
Eating healthy can help alleviate the impact of a hangover. A balanced diet consisting of protein, carbs and fat is best to restore electrolyte balance, decrease blood sugar levels and promote digestion.
Biohacking is the term used to refer to DIY biology and human enhancement. Biohackers seek ways to optimize their health and performance with strategic interventions; rather than curing disease they simply look for ways to optimize their lives.
Teemu Arina and his global biohacking team will soon release an expanded nutrition section of their popular Biohacker’s Handbook this summer, as well as hosting their Biohackers Summit this November (use discount code BEN for 10% savings) which promises a weekend filled with ancestral living practices, wild plant foraging trips, smoke sauna sessions and delicious cuisine!
5. Sleep well
Sleep is an integral component of biohacking. Biohackers regularly experiment with different sleep schedules such as polyphasic sleep to optimize their patterns and enhance cognitive health and performance. Alcohol can negatively influence one’s slumber; though initially making one feel sleepy, alcohol consumption often leads to reduced quality sleep architecture later in the night and thus disrupting its natural patterning. Therefore, during periods of excessive drinking or partying it is imperative that enough quality rest is logged so as to remain invigorating cognitive performance.
