A Radionics Security Panel Might Still Work If You Have the Pass Code

Have an old Radionics security panel installed by the previous owner that might still work if you know its pass code?

But if any adjustments need to be made, you will require the assistance of a radionics alarm dealer. Here are some suggestions as to where you might find one:

D2212B

Bosch/Radionics‘ D2212B security system gathers information from door, window and motion sensors throughout your business and relays that activity to a central monitoring station. If an unusual event takes place, that station can contact local police or fire departments or other emergency response services if necessary. It also monitors for smoke sensor activity and other sensor activity and can send notifications of abnormal activity via email, text or mobile apps if configured for that function; furthermore it supports an array of sensors, keypads and wireless transmission devices.

The control panel features four onboard programmable outputs that are expandable to 20 points via hardwire and wireless point expansion modules. Relays on-board can be programmed from remote locations to open circuits or activate alarm sounders; additionally they may control keypads, telephone dialers, or digital communication devices.

UL Certified The D2212B is a burglary/fire control panel certified for household alarm and fire warning systems (NFPA 72). It can be used with two-wire detectors or initiating devices approved for installation in residential fire alarm equipment (NFPA 74).

Powering the D2212B

Connect the 16.5 VAC, 40 VA transformer to terminal PP3. Be sure to label the transformer so it has an Avance rating of 860 milliamperes or less; use an 18 AWG (1.2 mm) wire maximum under each terminal or spade lug or splice for maximum current output; AC power circuit provides 1.5 A of rectified DC current with one amp dedicated exclusively for internal operations and one amp for continuously powered devices; connect an additional ground reference (see Section 4.3, Earth Ground Wiring on page 20).

Programming the Panel

The D2212B is compatible with any UL listed Bosch Security Systems D2000 Series detectors and keypads. Please refer to the P/N 35114 for programming options and instructions. It may also be connected directly to public telephone networks with its RJ31X connector; however it is strongly suggested that its D2000 Series Ringer Equivalence Number be assigned to a Route Group set up exclusively for Local Use (see page 32).

The D2212B provides both user and owner passcode support, eight on-board programmable skeds and four programmable auxiliary outputs. Furthermore, analog numeric paging for status reporting as well as uplink radios and LAN/WAN for remote communications is supported as well as up to 255 events stored that can be printed using standard serial printers are all possible features.

D9412G

The D9412G programmable alarm panel features eight on-board points and up to 238 off-board points (depending on its model and expansion interface modules installed), along with two phone lines that enable it to send alarm messages and supervisory status information directly into its control center via two phone lines, providing alarm notification services as well as access control functions and communication with an external telephone dialer. It supports two modes of supervision – supervised mode and non-supervised mode.

In its supervised mode, the D9412G monitors each of its on-board points and off-board point inputs using voltage levels detected from the line. If any problems arise, if they can reach no user then notify telephone company then shutdown line; you can turn this feature off by setting Detect Enable jumper to “Off” or programming an alternative value than zero into Area 5 of your program.

The D9412G can be programmed with various supervisory statuses for every on- and off-board point, such as:

On-Board and Off-Board Points

Each D9412G panel provides eight on-board points that can monitor all types of detectors. Up to 24 additional off-board points may be added using either the D8210B or D9240B Access Control Interface Modules (ACI).

On-board and off-board points can be activated at specific times with scheduled events known as Skeds. Skeds include arm/disarming, relay control, point bypassing, etc. The D9412G includes both an internal clock and calendar to help it implement Skeds efficiently.

Every on- and off-board point can be monitored using a separate telephone line by selecting the relevant option in the D9412G Program Entry Guide. When combined with the D928 dual phone line switcher, this enables supervisory reporting and call-in alarm functionality – please see Phone for further details of supervisory reporting options and call-in alarm functions; alternatively between Phone Line 1 and 2, should one fail connection the alarm is reported automatically.

D6412

The D6412 12 VDC control/communicator offers 8 fully supervised on-board points that are expandable up to 40 using expansion modules and wireless points. For precise system control, its panel has four independent areas for greater system access allowing up to 32 users access per area to arm/disarm the system and generate Open/Close reports, using RF keyfobs or ID badges as identification mechanisms without having to enter pass codes; four programmable authority levels enable individual configuration of specific functions for every user.

Detector Power The D6412 can accommodate up to 15 smoke detectors connected via the PO1 (L-1 (+)) and PO2 (-) terminals, all compatible with its Operation and Installation Guide for use with the D6412. For a list of compatible smoke detectors please see D6412/D4412 Operation and Installation Guide).

Power Restrictions

Alarm current for combined fire/burglary systems is limited to 12.1 amps when using the D6412 without an DX4010 Serial Interface Module and compatible Central Station Receiver, according to its Fire System Power Calculation Formula in the D6412/D4412 Program Entry Guide (P/N 45351). For more details please refer to page 22 of P/N 45351 from D6412/D4412 Program Entry Guide

System Status LED for D6412

The System Status LED located on the front face of D6412 indicates three events:

Installer Switch Locked

To limit false alarms caused by toggling the installer switch, the D6412 temporarily suspends point fault detection until approximately 10 seconds have elapsed after closing (Installer Switch LOCKED). After this time has elapsed, all device conditions will be assessed and appropriate action taken accordingly.

D9000/7000

MediaTek will debut their flagship chip, D9000/7000, on December 16. A reliable tipster known as Digital Chat Station provided key details regarding its specifications.

To identify a B series panel from its counterpart, first check its main eprom version 3.17 or below on the board and also press CMD59 at the keypad – if it beeps for 8-10 seconds then this indicates a B series panel.
