Arming and Disarming a Radionics Fire Keypad

When purchasing or taking over an existing alarm system, knowing how to arm and disarm is an invaluable skill. Older Radionics systems use standard commands for various functions – for instance Command 4 acknowledges trouble conditions by silencing any beeping keypads related to 6112 panels.

Arming

Arming is usually the first task people will want to tackle with their Radionics fire keypad, and there are multiple methods available depending on your individual requirements. For instance, if the system was handed down from its previous owner with an existing master code already present. In such an instance, first enter both codes (OLD once and NEW twice respectively), with both consisting of four digits before turning ON your system ready light to activate them both.

Other keypad functions you may use include Commands 4, 8, and 9. These allow you to bypass or unbypass zones, making them useful when an improper door contact or misaligning magnet prevents the system from arming as intended. For instance, if a door or window keeps tripping due to loose switch connections, Command 8 allows you to arm around this problem area temporarily until service can be scheduled.

Another popular function is Command 55, which toggles Watch Mode on or off. Once in Watch Mode, all sirens and keypads will sound, along with sending an emergency fire panic signal directly to a central station for systems with fire alarm monitoring capabilities.

Command 40 is designed to display one or more trouble conditions in the trouble event buffer on 6112 systems, for a comprehensive overview of this and other commands please refer to your specific burglar alarm or fire alarm manual and keypad.
