Manuel Mallo, one of the Queen’s closest allies (or possibly lovers), moved in the high circles of Spain’s decadent court. He held great influence with Esteban Palacios and Pedro Palacios; was Bolivar’s mentor; lived at Ustariz’s mansion together with him; played an active role in initiating independence from Spain while traveling worldwide in search of support for South American independence.
