Jill Blakeway is the acclaimed founder and acupuncturist of New York City’s Yinova Center and an energy medicine student. Additionally, she was the first acupuncturist ever to give a TED Talk and has written three books about healing.
She shares her global journey in pursuit of understanding both the science and mysticism surrounding healing, along with modern studies that support ancient practices.
What is Energy Medicine?
Energy medicine (a.k.a. energy healing or energy therapies) refers to various holistic practices that harness an invisible field of energy surrounding and flowing through our bodies, and which practitioners believe can be controlled to restore balance, promote wellness and heal illness. Since energy healing therapies don’t pose any side effects or require any surgery for treatment purposes, they may be combined with more traditional medical solutions as part of an integrative healthcare approach.
Energy healing modalities vary, each practice depending on the experience and techniques of its practitioners. Reiki (ray-key) and Healing Touch both use Eastern beliefs about an energy supporting our natural ability to heal ourselves as healing agents; other modalities focus on manipulating biofields according to detailed descriptions such as acupuncture or acupressure which stimulate specific points along the body’s meridians.
Practitioners of energy healing claim they can use life force energy to send into your body in order to identify imbalances in its energetic field and clear them, or clear away energy blocks which keep you from feeling better. Energy has long been used as a form of medicine; its usage has been observed across cultures over time using terms like life force, prana, qi and chi as descriptive names for these energies in various contexts.
Scientists have recently learned that our bodies produce massive amounts of information through electromagnetic fields generated from cells, tissues and organs as well as voltage potentials that control ion flux across cell membranes. Scientists now understand that these signals form a network connecting our endocrine and cellular systems together to form an informational ecosystem.
Human Energy Field, or HEF, influences many physical processes including hormones, peptides, neurotransmitters, cell signaling and ion flux. When communication channels between body systems break down, subtle energy treatments may realign HEF and restore homeostasis, or normal functions for body systems.
While energy therapies may seem promising, their efficacy has yet to be proven. Therefore, you should continue seeing your healthcare provider for conventional medical advice and treatments.
How does Energy Medicine Work?
EM is an integrative medicine approach to healing that utilizes subtle energies to address the human biofield – an invisible energy field thought to envelop and penetrate the body. Therapeutically addressing energy fields to restore equilibrium may indicate disease or age-related patterns of energy imbalance; using therapeutic energy techniques EM therapies use subtle energies such as chakra energy healing or assessments using known subtle energies can restore homeostasis (balance).
Energy medicine practitioners believe in an invisible force flowing throughout your body, connecting mind and body. Healers channel this healing energy to their patients in order to promote balance, harmony and vitality within them. Healers use holistic treatments like acupuncture, reflexology and tapping (an emotional release method).
Energy healers use their hands to activate electromagnetic fields on a small scale inside of a patient’s body, known as cellular voltage potentials, that direct ions across cell membranes, modulating their function. Furthermore, energy healers believe the biofield holds information regarding bodily physiology; such as presence or absence of hormones or peptides in different tissues of the body.
As for the claimed energy healing effects of biofield therapy treatments, a 2015 systematic review of 27 studies using it found positive results in terms of reduced depression and fatigue levels as well as improvements to quality of life, health locus of control and pain levels; however it must be noted that many of the analyzed studies did not have rigorous methodologies sufficient for supporting claims made by energy healers.
Energy healing techniques lack scientific backing; yet many people still utilize them as complementary treatments alongside more conventional approaches. If taking any medications or suffering from certain health conditions – for instance undergoing cancer treatments – energy healing sessions may not be wise until after chemotherapy treatment has concluded.
What is the Difference Between Energy Medicine and Acupuncture?
Energy medicine can be misinterpreted, as its definition goes far beyond just acupuncture. Energy medicine encompasses an array of healing modalities that involve manipulating our vital energy or “qi,” which runs throughout our bodies, to balance it and remove blockages that interfere with its flow.
Acupuncture is one of the most effective energy therapies used to treat pain and nausea. Acupuncture involves placing fine needles into specific points on the body in order to stimulate nerve pathways and release endorphins – natural painkillers and mood boosters – into your nervous system and brain, stimulating release.
Studies have proven the efficacy of acupuncture. According to the National Institutes of Health, it can help with chronic pain and fibromyalgia symptoms. When selecting an acupuncturist in your state, make sure they are licensed and certified as well as check whether health insurance covers treatment.
TCM, an ancient practice dating back millennia, describes vital energy that flows along pathways or meridians containing acupuncture points and is blocked at certain places by obstacles called meridians; when these obstacles are removed, flow is restored and healing begins.
Blakeway is a board-certified acupuncturist and licensed herbalist, serving both New York City’s Yinova Center as the founder and as professor at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego as an instructor. Additionally, she was the first acupuncturist ever to give a TED Talk and author three books.

How does Energy Medicine Help?
Energy healers believe in an invisible electrical network called “life force” which flows throughout and around your body, and a disruption in this energy flow could cause illness; they believe energy healing can restore this balance.
An energy medicine treatment typically involves using hands-on touch or light manipulation from a practitioner in order to correct the flow of your life force. These treatments tend to be noninvasive and low risk; examples include acupuncture, Reiki and herbal remedies.
Energy medicine operates under the assumption that health problems are due to an imbalance of energy within your body or aura, with energy medicine treatments designed to restore that flow so your body can heal itself.
A 2015 review demonstrated the many positive results of biofield therapies, including improved mood and quality of life as well as decreased pain, anxiety and fatigue. Patients reported increased coping abilities, health locus of control and vitality as a result of biofield therapies.
Energy healing treatments use universal life force to balance and clear any blockages from your aura, then distribute this fresh energy all over your body to recharge and clear any unhealthy energies. At the conclusion of their work, practitioners may provide tools that help maintain energy balance such as daily routines or meditation techniques that you can implement at home.
Energy healing shouldn’t be seen as a replacement for conventional medical care; rather it should serve as an adjunct. But before trying any alternative therapies or practices it’s essential that you speak to your healthcare provider first.
In case of Adrenal Fatigue, for instance, your practitioner might recommend that you avoid light energy healing techniques like Reiki and similar methods, which may increase stress levels and worsen symptoms. If an energy healing treatment is recommended by your practitioner, be sure to follow their advice about its length of time and frequency of repetition.
Energy modalities don’t often address the cause of your health problems; for instance, they don’t focus on pinpointing and treating their source; an abdominal ache might have its source in an imbalance in either your heart meridian or liver meridian.
Quantum healing works energetically to connect you with alternate versions of yourself who are already healed and flourishing, such as those in Doctor Strange or Everything Everywhere All At Once. Access these stronger, healthier versions to heal physical or emotional conditions more quickly.
Dolores Cannon discovered through her work with thousands of individuals using the QHHT technique that the subconscious holds vast stores of knowledge about life and death, reincarnation, the origins of humanity, ETs, Nostradamus and much more.
Hypnosis
Hypnosis is an all-natural healing solution that can assist on all levels, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Hypnosis works best when administered by certified practitioners who can lead you into an altered state of consciousness where communication with the subconscious mind is possible.
Quantum Healing Hypnosis (QHHT), developed by Dolores Cannon, offers individuals an effective connection with themselves and the power of self-hypnosis for personal healing and transformation. QHHT helps release past life trauma while opening channels to one’s higher self for transformation and healing.
QHHT sessions can be completed in person or over the phone and involve being guided into a deep trance by a certified hypnotist who asks you expertly-designed questions to put you into an altered state. Past life memories may also help give insight into current challenges or problems; and communication with spirit guides provides additional valuable guidance during QHHT.
Although QHHT may have its critics, it can be an extremely effective technique that helps heal on all levels. From treating anxiety and depression, to discovering your purpose and connecting with the higher self. QHHT may even help address chronic health conditions like pain and illness.
QHHT sessions can provide an immense sense of peace and wellness. Hypnosis allows your mind to settle, with negative patterns that contribute to illness identified and released; additionally you’ll learn how to heal yourself at a cellular level.
No matter your goal – from seeking deeper understanding of yourself or overcoming addiction – hypnosis can be an invaluable asset in reaching your highest potential. But remember: Hypnosis should not be seen as a magic solution and should be supported with healthy eating, exercise, self-care practices and positive self-talk plans to maximize results.
Meditation
QHH sessions can help heal physical, emotional and spiritual ailments by connecting to your soul, higher self, and spiritual guides. Through this process you may also gain insights into past lives or why you are here in this lifetime, helping to lead more fulfilling lives while realizing personal transformation.
Dolores Cannon developed QHHT during her 45-year career of past life regression hypnosis. This technique allows individuals to relive past and future lives as well as access Akashic Records and Spirit realm. Many individuals claim this healing modality has helped them overcome health and psychological issues such as pain, anxiety and depression.
Dolores experiences QHHT to achieve the deepest state of hypnosis known as somnambulistic or theta brain wave state hypnosis during this process, which we all reach daily just prior to sleep and awakening. QHHT works only at this level; unlike most forms of hypnosis that also work at conscious levels.
Dolores Cannon was an accomplished hypnotherapist, author, and spiritual researcher who pioneered an innovative healing method called Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT). She wrote numerous groundbreaking works on mysticism and metaphysics – such as her best-selling five book series “Five Lives Remembered”. While conducting past life regression sessions with clients, Dolores found that they frequently experienced more than just previous lives; often visiting parallel lives, planets, or dimensions during regression sessions.
At a QHHT session, a practitioner will ask their client’s Subconscious whether any physical symptoms need healing. Their Subconscious will then provide insight into where these problems originate such as unresolved emotions or past life traumas that need addressing. If an issue can be treated through QHHT it will often instantly cure itself; one woman who had chronic back pain was even able to eradicate it through QHHT therapy!
QHHT sessions may also help address other health concerns, such as chronic fatigue, chronic pain and emotional turmoil. QHH sessions provide an opportunity to create positive changes in diet and exercise patterns which will result in overall improvements to overall health. Through the mind-body connection established during QHH sessions, your innate wisdom guides healthy lifestyle decisions.
Visualization
Quantum healing works on the principle that our thoughts, emotions and beliefs affect our body on an energetic level. Quantum healers utilize holistic tools like meditation, Ayurveda and yoga to shift your energy for physical wellness; additionally they employ techniques such as hypnosis to access deeper energetic and consciousness-based dimensions of yourself.
Studies have revealed the power of visualization as an integral element of quantum healing. When imagined vividly, imagining outcomes activates your brain’s natural capacity to increase well-being – ideal whether you’re facing high-stakes situations or working toward professional or personal goals, visualization helps your thoughts and energy line up with what you desire as an outcome.
Visualization can help you access the power of your subconscious mind to identify hidden patterns that could be contributing to your challenges, as well as take advantage of the Law of Attraction – that what you focus on expands and comes more fully into your life.
According to quantum physics, particles exist simultaneously in multiple states and can interconnect over great distances, echoing Eastern spiritual beliefs that the universe is an infinitely connected whole with infinite potentialities. Quantum healers believe tapping into the universal zero-point energy field can produce vibrational resonance between mind, body, and environment for holistic wellness on a cellular level.
Dolores Cannon developed QHHT (Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique), which involves three parts. First, quantum healers use deep states of consciousness to explore past life experiences that might be contributing to your current health issues and secondly they use hypnosis so you can communicate directly with your Higher Self to receive guidance for your healing journey.
QHHT operates under the assumption that our bodies are energy fields that can be altered through observation; when something is observed it changes its state. Quantum Healing seeks to harmonize this energy field in order to promote wellness on both physical and emotional levels.
Quantum healing not only reduces stress and improves mental clarity, but it can also provide pain relief, promote natural healing processes in your body and address autoimmune conditions or digestive disorders.
Reiki
Reiki involves the transference of energy from practitioner to patient, helping heal emotional and physical ailments and promote overall well-being and spiritual awakening. Reiki can also provide stress relief and relaxation benefits while strengthening immunity and decreasing risks of cancer and other illnesses.
Hypnosis’ benefits have been demonstrated in clinical studies, yet no scientific proof exists to show its efficacy as a treatment option for specific medical conditions. Reiki should be considered complementary therapy and may enhance certain medications or treatments’ effects; it’s wise to consult your physician first before considering alternative forms of treatment.
Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHH) is an holistic healing system that blends traditional hypnosis techniques with quantum physics and spiritual consciousness. Created by Dolores Cannon, QHH allows clients to access their subconscious minds and connect with their Higher Selves – giving insight into physical or emotional issues as well as guidance that supports life paths.
QHHT practitioners lead clients into a deep state of relaxation during each QHHT session, using what’s known as THETA wave brainwave therapy – similar to being asleep but still conscious – which allows direct communication with Subconscious Mind for physical and emotional health improvements.
During a session, clients lie fully clothed while their practitioner gently places their hands over or above their body at least 12 different locations – including over the head and seven main energy centers (chakras). Their intuition then determines where the highest level of imbalance resides – this session usually lasts 4-6 hours before ending with rest and meditation.
Reiki may help reduce stress levels and ease pain relief. Furthermore, its use could help mitigate side effects associated with medications or treatments; however it should be remembered that its benefits cannot be proven through scientific research and could instead be due to placebo effects.
Researchers are making significant strides toward their goal of increasing lifespan and even reversing biological ageing. Preclinical studies in mice demonstrate how an oral capsule containing various molecules can rejuvenate tissue significantly and significantly lower biological age.
Gladyshev recalls hearing early in his career about attempts to reduce aging to its core drivers; understanding these biomarkers will hasten development of effective reversal methods.
Research is the process of collecting and analyzing information.
Before beginning any research project, scientists must create a plan for gathering and analyzing information. This should include outlining steps needed for collecting the data, setting up an expenses budget, and organizing their research space. Furthermore, the plan must include details regarding materials and methods to be employed during study as well as goals and purposes of their investigation. Furthermore, community partners who will assist should be listed; each should provide a biosketch that details their education background, unique contributions made toward project, past successes, etc.
Scientists are continually in search of ways to slow and even reverse aging, such as the recent breakthrough where certain cells could be reprogramed to regain their youthful appearance. Researchers behind this development believe it could pave the way for regenerative medicine or whole body rejuvenation treatments.
Reversing aging does not come without its risks; some of which include ethical and metaphysical considerations. Some scientists worry that humans are attempting to play God by prolonging their lives, something which might be considered morally inappropriate.
However, scientific advancement is rapidly moving forward, and we may be closer than ever before to finding ways to not just slow but reverse aging. Harvard professor David Sinclair recently shared his predictions regarding longevity research; he anticipates pills being available soon that target specific genes to reverse aging in different tissues throughout the body and that scientists will find ways to almost double human lifespan.
It is a way to learn new things.
Researchers are always striving to find ways to help people live longer, healthier lives. One such effort involves trying to reverse aging; Harvard’s Dr. David Sinclair recently gave an interview to American engineer, scientist, and entrepreneur Peter Diamandis in which he predicted that within 10 years pills targeting certain genes could become available that could reverse aging processes in tissues throughout the body – possibly even double longevity altogether! He believes scientists may one day be able to double human lifespan.
It is a way to solve problems.
Scientists are actively searching for ways to stop, or at least delay, the aging process. Though great strides have already been taken towards realizing their dream, more work must be done. Many different approaches have been employed, including calorie restriction and cellular reprogramming technology that turns mature cells back into stem cells that repair tissues by rejuvenating. Mice have already demonstrated its use; one day it may even help treat age-related diseases.
Researchers are still in their early stages, and it will take years before this technology reaches patients, but preliminary findings are promising. Studies conducted have demonstrated that it may be possible to extend healthspan by postponing age-related diseases – potentially giving people longer, healthier lives. But before this technology hits market there must first be addressed many ethical considerations; some believe reversing aging processes amounts to playing God with our lives, something others feel strongly against doing.
As there are multiple contributors to the aging process, treating every factor at once can be dauntingly complex. That is why scientists have begun targeting specific aspects of the process in order to accelerate it faster – for instance Dr David Sinclair discovered that reprogramming T cells can delay aging while also preventing autoimmune diseases; his research was recently published in Nature Medicine.
Scientists are exploring ways to halt or even reverse the progression of disease through numerous strategies. Their efforts include studying the effects of rapamycin, first isolated from an Easter Island bacteria and found to possess antifungal and immunosuppressive properties; its action targets the TOR pathway – an extensive molecular signaling cascade essential for metabolism regulation as well as other important processes.
An alternative approach is to explore the causes of aging, which often consist of various factors that accumulate over time. Some people live healthy lives into their ninth or tenth decade without disease; other people develop serious illnesses such as cancer and dementia much earlier on. This type of study, known as biological ageing, has become increasingly popular.
It is a way to make the world a better place.
Researchers have long sought ways to slow and reverse aging to treat diseases and extend human lifespans. There are currently various approaches available, with some focused on preventing age-related illnesses while others more on reverseing biological processes that cause them.
Scientists have recently made remarkable advances in this area. For instance, mice can now revert their cellular aging without damaging identity or uncontrollable cell growth, an impressive discovery which may serve as the cornerstone for therapies that slow and reverse many common diseases including cancer.
These methods attempt to revive aged cells, by targeting biological mechanisms that cause their degeneration. If successful, this approach could produce profound results, prolonging lives globally while improving health worldwide – creating a positive circle with significant economic implications as more individuals could work and contribute for longer.
Research into reverse aging has made significant strides over recent years, with scientists showing how signs of aging can be mitigated through reprogramming cells into stem cells. One experiment, conducted at Kyoto University professor Shinya Yamanaka’s lab used four transcription factors to revert adult cells back into pluripotent stem cells called induced pluripotent stem cells, which can then be differentiated into more specialized cells like neurons or fibroblasts.
CAR T-cell therapy represents another groundbreaking advancement in this area, offering hope of eliminating senescent cells that contribute to the aging process and their removal can drastically improve patients’ health; however, these techniques are still under development and thus pose some limitations in terms of success.
Additionally, there are various other approaches that can help reverse the aging process. Members of JAAM and JAAF are studying various aspects of aging such as DNA damage, mitochondrial dysfunction, chronic inflammation and epigenetic clocks that help determine optimal strategies to reverse or slow its effects.
