Energy healing techniques have increasingly gained in popularity as an adjunct to conventional medical therapies. By manipulating subtle energies to restore balance to the body, these practices utilize alternative energy healing approaches as a powerful solution.
Many energy management (EM) techniques rely on touch, interaction and protocols to address energy imbalances in the human energy field (HEF), including Polarity Therapy, Acupuncture, Healing Touch and Reiki.
Acupressure
Acupressure uses similar pressure points as acupuncture without needles; instead, massage therapists apply firm yet gentle pressure directly to specific acupressure points with their fingertips, palms, elbows or special tools.
According to traditional Chinese medicine, acupressure enhances the body’s natural healing capabilities by clearing away energy blockages and balancing out Qi (the life force energy). Acupressure points are found along pathways known as meridians which connect different parts of the body; stimulating these points is said to treat various physical, emotional, and mental conditions.
Studies have revealed the many ways that acupressure can ease pain, enhance mood and sleep quality, promote musculoskeletal healing and alleviate issues such as back, neck and shoulder tension. Acupuncture may also assist with digestive disorders like indigestion and Irritable Bowel Syndrome as well as nausea/vomiting due to cancer treatment or overdoses in adults.
Acupressure can also be self-administered and many individuals incorporate it into their daily wellness regime as part of acupressure’s self-administration capabilities. Acupressure can be done first thing in the morning to wake you up and improve concentration; or in the evening before sleep to reduce stress and promote restful slumber.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is one of the oldest energy medicine techniques, according to Chinese medical theory it works by balancing an individual’s vital life force or “qi.” Acupuncture has long been used as an energy medicine therapy and to relieve pain, promote healing and enhance overall health; typically this therapy entails inserting thin needles into pressure points on the body.
By stimulating these points with various tools such as needles, cupping, laser light or manual pressure from an acupuncturist, it is believed that blocked energy flows are unblocked and their flow restored. TCM believes qi moves through pathways known as meridians which run along our bodies; when one becomes blocked illness can ensue.
For most people, acupuncture is a safe treatment with few side effects. While you may experience temporary achiness during a session, most patients report feeling deeply relaxed throughout. Acupuncture can be used to treat various conditions including chronic back and neck pain, asthma, arthritis, sinus issues, migraines, nausea caused by chemotherapy/surgery treatments as well as diarrhea/constipation issues/fatigue/emotional distress/stress.
Healing Touch
Healing touch practitioners use light touch, breathing techniques and body awareness meditations to influence a patient’s energy field and aid self-healing.
Practice of Therapeutic Touch for illness stems from the belief that illness disrupts the natural flow of energy through chakras in our bodies, leading to blockages in this flow and creating imbalance in their functioning. Therapeutic touch can be used to unblock energy flows and restore equilibrium.
Healing Touch sessions start by having the practitioner ground themselves and set an intention to stimulate the patient’s own innate healing capabilities. Once grounded, they place their hands above or on the patient’s body sequentially for up to 60 minutes – this may take several sessions before seeing results.
During a Healing Touch or simple touch session, a client lies fully clothed on a massage table or sits comfortably in a chair while being examined by their practitioner’s hands for any sensations or imbalances in their energy field. They then move their fingers over specific acupressure points which have been said to resonate with certain emotions or themes from life – this method relies on detailed descriptions of energy anatomy and flow and may be combined with complementary therapies such as Reiki. Patients reported three major themes from their experience of these interventions that encompass wholeness awareness presence – which all relate back to Rogerian Science concepts of wholeness awareness presence as outlined by Rogerian Science concepts of wholeness awareness presence.
Jin Shin Jyutsu
Jin Shin Jyutsu (pronounced jin-shin jits-so) is a Japanese form of acupressure that can unblock and balance energy pathways by applying gentle hand pressure at specific points on the body. It has proven particularly successful when treating intensive care patients who cannot undergo traditional therapies that require incision or deep tissue work.
Energy pathways of the body bring life and vitality to every cell and organ in our bodies, much like how a stone inhibits water in a stream, so when one of these pathways become congested – such as when stones block its flow – physical symptoms may appear such as pain, fatigue and illness; symptoms which may be localized or spread throughout our systems like dominoes. Jin Shin Jyutsu, developed by Mary Burmeister to clear these blocks and harmonize energy pathways to restore a sense of health and well-being in ourselves and our bodies.
Beth Lendrum is a certified Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner with practices in El Dorado Hills and Roseville. Additionally, she has training in Eastern nutrition, Chinese Medicine, massage therapy and essential oils – using her hands as “jumper cables” to revitalize and restore energy flows in clients, Beth is able to relieve their stress while returning them to natural vitality.
Medical Qigong
Qigong is an ancient Chinese practice combining movement, breath control, and meditation to cultivate and balance the flow of life force energy throughout the body. This approach incorporates concepts from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), including its concepts of Yin and Yang; when these opposing forces become imbalanced they put us at risk of disease; through regular Qigong practice this balance can be maintained, ultimately aiding self-healing and overall well being.
Medical qigong practitioners develop the skill of sensing energy flows within themselves and between themselves and nature, and developing the ability to sense any disruptions or disbalance in this natural force – often before it manifests physically or is even detected on medical exams. By understanding their bodies better than before illness strikes or becomes detectable through physical means or tests – Medical Qigong practitioners can often stop its progression altogether and prevent future illness before it even appears on a medical exam.
Acupuncturists employ an energy healing technique known as “qi gong” when inserting needles into the body, and Chinese massage, known as tuina (“twee-na”) to influence qi therapeutically. Practitioners of medical qigong must engage in years of self-practice to create enough reserves and emit them therapeutically when treating others – it’s one of four branches of TCM that’s considered one of its most potent forms.
Pranic Healing
Pranic healing is a non-touch complementary therapy developed to accelerate the body’s natural healing capacities. Based on the fundamental principle that life force energy (known as prana in Sanskrit or Chi in Chinese and Ki in Japanese) flows freely throughout our bodies for overall physical and emotional well-being; when this vital energy becomes blocked or depleted illness and disease may arise.
As with acupuncture and Healing Touch, practitioners use hands held 2-6 inches away from the patient’s skin to scan their energy field and detect any areas where congestion has formed. When identified, practitioners use “cycling” to clear away these blocks in their energetic system and facilitate natural healing processes.
Pranic Healing takes a more systematic approach than Reiki in clearing away negative energy and invigorating the body with new life force energy, thus helping push out any stagnant old energies that have built up over time. While practitioners trained in Pranic Healing may experience side effects like headaches or fatigue during sessions, experienced Pranic healers will follow specific protocols designed to minimize such adverse side effects to ensure safe and successful sessions.
Reconnective Healing
Reconnective healing is an energy technique that uses new frequencies to re-align your body’s energetic field, activating its natural ability to heal itself. Practitioners of Reconnective healing believe this reconnective process with universal energies will activate life force and restore balance across all dimensions of being.
Even though Reconnective Healing might sound like just another hoax, several scientific studies have proven its validity and produced changes measurable with modern equipment.
One study demonstrated how Reconnective Healing could significantly increase range of motion for those suffering from frozen shoulder and other conditions that limit movement. Furthermore, another showed how it could decrease stress levels and promote emotional well-being by lowering blood pressure and heart rate.
Studies have also demonstrated how Reconnective Healing can enhance cognitive function, leading to improved decision-making and clearer thought processes. Some clients have reported experiencing spiritual growth as well as an enhanced sense of purpose and connection with the universe after participating in a Reconnective Healing session; one remarkable experiment demonstrated its effects on plants as well.
