Installation
Radionics home security systems are proprietary, meaning they’re incompatible with other brands of alarm panels; nevertheless, they remain very popular. Many older homeowners may already have one installed in their home – these hardwired systems may offer up to 100 zones and an array of user codes; installing a new alarm panel and using it with existing sensors/keypads requires a special programmer or assistance from an official Radionics dealer.
If you are installing a Radionics system for the first time, ensure that both low voltage transformer and panel battery are properly connected and charged. Furthermore, replace battery at least every three years; in case standby power output exceeds your control panel’s limits, connect an independent power source for protection to avoid overheating.
Unarming your Point 1 sensor loop makes operating its auxiliary and alarm power outputs difficult, making this an essential step if using it for smoke detectors; otherwise it must be wired directly to an alarm power output instead. Furthermore, prior to connecting smoke detectors it is wise to inspect its wire resistance – an acceptable range is less than 50ohm, though if resistance exceeds this value a resistor may need to be added for adjustment purposes.
Maintenance
The Radionics 2112 security system features robust maintenance capabilities and methods for troubleshooting. Additionally, its data bus modules enable it to communicate with analog numeric paging and LAN/WAN networks as well as providing an event log which can be printed out. In addition, its four onboard programmable outputs – expandable up to 20 – and its ability to interact with smoke detectors and burglar alarms make it a reliable system that comes with protection provided by fast blow fuses are added bonuses.
The D2112/D2112E provides up to 13.0 VDC of backup battery power. To increase this amount, connect an extra large light on steady capacity battery of up to 7 Ah; please refer to the Program Entry Guide of D2112/D2112E for more details.
Easikey access control keypads provide another easy way to arm and disarm your panel without needing to enter point code prompts, saving time and money in labor charges. If the system doesn’t power on, verify that low voltage transformer is connected as well as main panel battery connection is established.
