At times it may come as no surprise to find your new home already equipped with a radionics alarm system from Radionics Inc, now owned by Bosch Security Systems. These hardwired alarm systems were expandable up to 100 zones with many user codes. Before taking on any DIY system upgrades it’s essential that you are aware of your panel model number, keypad model numbers and an arm/disarm code as these details could all affect how effectively your upgrade occurs.
Keypads
Radionics alarm panels like the 8112 and D6112 utilize a series of commands to perform system functions. These commands control how a system is armed or disarmed, programming functions, panic settings on systems with home alarm monitoring, as well as panic functions if applicable. Each model differs with regards to which commands it supports; to learn which ones your particular panel and keypad supports and how they function – for instance command 4 will silence beeping keypads while performing “smoke detector reset” function if your combined burglary/fire monitoring panel supports it!
