Chapter 2: Point Indexes

Point indexes are specific locations where points can be preconfigured with settings tailored specifically for one type of device. Each point can be assigned a different index; however it’s best to start each program by identifying an index that most closely reflects your device type and response characteristics – this will avoid confusion during programming as well as prevent future errors from arising.

Point Indexes may be referred to either as Profile or Index depending on your panel type and firmware revision. Both terms refer to the same thing, though older panels use Index while more recent panels use Profile instead. Points are inputs that connect with detection devices like door contacts, motion sensors, smoke detectors and surveillance cameras; their behavior when activated depends upon which index it’s assigned to. Each point can also be configured with alarm or trouble reporting capabilities based on its Point Type and Response settings – see the Point Type/Rate Table above for more details.

Use of an index with Point Type and Response preconfigured specifically for the device being protected will ensure that when activated, the appropriate actions are taken by the panel when activated, thus minimizing errors and CPU interruptions, which may result in WATCHDOG RESET reports and potentially PARM CKSUM FAIL messages at command center. When selecting an index always review its Point Profile Text to understand its default settings; additional programming assistance may be found using RPS Help screens by pressing F1. Chapter 4: Advanced Settings

The D9412G/D7412G/D7212G control panel uses an innovative system for storing its data. Instead of using traditional memory cards, this control panel uses the D9133DC Direct Connect Programming Module instead to store programs within its internal memory. This manual offers detailed instructions on programming the D9133DC Direct Connect Programming Module as well as connecting it to the control panel; troubleshooting tips are provided along with an exhaustive list of available commands.

Troubleshooting Notes

Before commencing any troubleshooting efforts, first referring to the D9412G/D7412G/D7212G Operation and Installation Guide will help ensure your panel has been installed and programmed correctly to reduce or avoid many potential problems that could occur later.

Notes:

If the issue stems from a power outage, first ensure that your control panel battery is fully charged before verifying whether your alarm battery and auxiliary battery are securely attached. Ensure the fire detector in your system has its auxiliary battery fully charged and connected correctly between terminals 1 and 2. Likewise, make sure its relay output is configured appropriately. Relay A (Terminal 6) can be configured as a Steady Alarm Bell output while Relay B (Terminal 7) serves as Pulsed Fire Bell output by default. To find and configure these relay settings correctly, referring to the D9412G/D7412G/D7212G Program Entry Guide is highly recommended. If the power supervision is activated and battery voltage drops below 13.7 VDC, the Low Battery LED will begin flashing, and the panel will transmit either a BATTERY TROUBLE report using Modem IIIa Communication Format or TROUBLE ZN 9 report through BFSK format. Once restored to 13.7 VDC, Low Battery LED stops flashing.
