Clive Sinclair established Radionics Ltd in 1961 to develop hi-fi products, radios, and calculators. He raised funds by writing articles for Practical Wireless magazine and borrowing PS50; later working alone out of his London apartment selling radio kits by mail order.
Radionics first made headlines with its revolutionary Micro-FM pocket FM tuner/receiver in 1965; they advertised it as the world’s smallest radio. A decade later they debuted the Oxford series of briefcase calculators (such as the Sinclair Sovereign).
