By using COMSOL software to model DNA vibrations, its vibrational analysis was completed. The generalized differential quadrature method was employed to solve its governing equations and obtain its natural frequency.

Caroline Wright of the University of Exeter in UK and colleagues published on bioRxiv have demonstrated that SNP chips used by direct-to-consumer genetic tests often struggle to distinguish rare mutations from experimental noise. Scientists analyzed DNA samples from 50,000 individuals within the UK Biobank that have been processed both using SNP chips and whole genome sequencing technologies. Researchers found that SNP chips could accurately pinpoint common variants in two genes linked to hereditary breast and ovarian cancer–BRCA1 and BRCA2–with 99 per cent accuracy, although rarer ones were more likely to show false positives than accurate results. If consumer tests detect rare hereditary cancer gene variants, it is recommended getting it confirmed by a healthcare professional via DNA sequencing before acting upon such information.
