Offering mild electrical current via bracelet or ear electrodes and adhesive electrodes placed directly onto pain or soreness areas, Healy has quickly become a go-to option in their multilevel marketing structure that allows influencers to make unsubstantiated claims regarding whether their devices actually work; according to their company spokesperson: Bioresonance device interacts with your body to balance its Bioenergetic Field while Individualized Microcurrent Frequency programs “optimize balance for many essential aspects of life.”
Healys’ history can be traced back to frequency medicine devices invented by Dr. Albert Abrams and Royal Rife, known by various names including bioresonance, the bioenergetic field theory and radionics. According to this pseudoscience branch of medicine, all living things possess energy fields with vibrational frequencies which vary depending on health status – higher when healthy; lower when sick. Bioresonance devices aim to detect these vibrations before feeding them back in order to restore balance in body systems.
Although Healy World, an online community supporting Healy device, has received FDA clearance, its claims exceed this limited scope. These include stating that Healy can help your body “heal itself”, which would be considered misleading advertising when selling wellness products.
Jo Bailey, a licensed therapist who briefly served as a Healy World distributor in 2019, tells Rolling Stone she decided not to promote Healy World after becoming concerned over some of the claims made about it by other influencers promoting Healy as a cure for cancer and other serious medical conditions in exchange for money from Healy World.
