Thousands of people flocked to Austin’s Fairmont Hotel last week in order to learn techniques for improving both their bodies and minds. Attendees indulged in yak butter tea and consumed functional mushrooms; many donned tight black leather pants as well as amber-tinted light-blockers to maximize the benefits.
This conference was inspired by the same ideas prevalent within electronic dance music culture: chronic disease is preventable and people deserve more options than what their doctor may prescribe.
The Visionary Ticket
Fourteen years ago, Dave Asprey held his inaugural biohacking conference for 100 attendees at a San Francisco bar, hoping to discover ways to improve their health. Since then, he has gone on to write books and start “The Human Upgrade,” an audio podcast with over one million monthly listeners.
Asprey, 42 years old Silicon Valley tech/startup guy and current traveller for work purposes, now spends most of his time traveling between cold plunges and functional mushrooms promoting his latest inventions – Danger Coffee, Bulletproof Creamer and Methylene Blue Peptide Spray- to thousands of biohacking enthusiasts around the country. He appears lean but not muscular–knowing exactly his cortisol levels before breakfast is key to maintaining optimal wellness.
At his 2026 Beyond Biohacking Conference, ideas that had previously been more cutting-edge were more mainstream than ever: chronic illness is often preventable; medical industry business models focus on managing symptoms rather than fixing root causes; and patients need better options than 15-minute doctor appointments – and that wasn’t by chance either.
The VIP Experience
Biohacking Conference brought thousands of health enthusiasts together for an inspiring weekend event in Austin, Texas, that felt less like a tech summit and more like an inspiring wellness festival. Attendees got a peek into cutting-edge innovations for improving human performance and longevity; seminars included how to make Bulletproof coffee at home as well as latest innovations for brain enhancement techniques.
The most-attended sessions focused on the science behind psychedelics, spirituality and altered states of consciousness as tools for health and healing. This innovative conference brought together technology, health and wellness practices reminiscent of electronic dance music: joy, connection and freedom to evolve.
Joe Dispenza, a chiropractor who YouTubes about mind reprogramming; Vani Hari, a blogger-turned-biohacker advocating clean eating and self-healing through food and supplements; as well as an “Blue Peptide Spray” session delving into its benefits; unlike vitamin C or other antioxidants which only neutralize oxidative stress once before becoming depleted — cycles continuously to counter free radical damage.
Dave Asprey, conference founder and four-time New York Times bestselling author of Heavily Meditated, donned his signature look: tight black leather pants with amber-tinted light blockers and his new coffee brand Danger Coffee T-shirt. While sipping his signature brain-boosting drink from a custom stainless steel mug poured by him himself he looked lean and relaxed; like someone who knows their cortisol levels before breakfast! His appearance perfectly captured the vibe of the movement that he founded; which now more mainstream than ever!
The Experiential Ticket
Asprey epitomizes biohacking. After years of cold plunges and yak butter tea, he stands as the ideal example. Lean and lean only–his hairstyle indicates his cortisol levels before breakfast–he’s wearing the T-shirt of Danger Coffee brand, alongside two employees offering samples of high-end supplements and gadgets from his collection. Asprey asserts that Americans have been mistreated by medicine; more options should be available than what 15-minute doctor appointments provide them.
The Human Upgrade podcast enjoys over 1 million downloads monthly. It covers health, performance, supplements, meditation, nutrition and neuroscience topics that aim to help listeners improve their biology while understanding more of how powerful their own bodies can be. While many may consider its ideas fringe, they’re increasingly finding mainstream recognition.
The Intimate Ticket
Fourteen years ago, Dave Asprey started not a conference but rather an argument. Dressed in tight black leather pants with amber tinted light blockers and T-shirt for Danger Coffee as his attire for Danger Coffee T-Shirt; with lean yet thin locks; his talks of cold plunges, functional mushrooms, and using Methylene Blue (MB) to neutralize oxidative stress would have caused laughter at any medical conference just ten years earlier!
Asprey’s brain-hacking movement is now a multi-billion dollar empire with products such as coffee, supplements and books aimed at brain hacking. While topics vary greatly between books, all have the same message: health is an individual choice we all deserve to take control over our biology. In 2019, Asprey will return with a deeper programme featuring speakers such as Dr. Aubrey de Grey, Nir Barzilai and Garri Zmudze among many more.
