Ethics
As an energy healer, it is both an honor and a significant responsibility to serve clients trusting in them for both physical and psychological wellbeing. A practitioner should uphold basic codes of ethics that foster this important relationship with his/her clientele.
Responsible practice requires clear communication with patients. This involves clearly outlining credentials so patients can verify training and licensure of practitioners; and offering honest representation, with clear explanations about what will be included in each session, any supplements provided, etc.
Practitioners must never cross inappropriate boundaries when dealing with clients, including touching private parts or asking for disrobing (unless it’s part of a session such as Reiki). When extreme psychiatric cases arise, practitioners should immediately refer them back to their doctor or call a crisis line; complementary practitioners must not advise stopping medical or psychological care as this could have serious repercussions if hospitalization becomes necessary or they risk harming themselves.
