How to Be a Natural Healer

You are a natural healer and have been called to serve as a conduit for Spirit. You feel other people’s emotions and physical ailments as your own.

Deep empathy and emotional intelligence are essential traits. Empathy and compassion empower clients to trust you and support their healing journey. Developing these skills is an ongoing practice of spiritual growth and self-reflection.

1. Listen to your intuition

If you can sense and feel the energies of your environment, you’re likely a natural healer. You may also be sensitive to the energy of other people and can often feel their emotions and physical ailments as your own (aka you’re an empath). You tend to have mystical experiences. You may find yourself drawn to healing professions like nurses, counselors, massage therapists, doctors, and herbalists. You also have a deep connection to nature and see the interconnectedness of all things.

You trust your gut instinct. Intuition is a powerful feeling that washes over you, usually without you even being aware of its presence. It is different than anxiety, which comes on more slowly and can be triggered by fear of the unknown or by a past trauma. It is important to learn to honor your intuition so you can stay safe and prevent yourself from getting involved in unhealthy situations.

Your intuition helps you see in shades of grey instead of black and white. You are a peacemaker and love to bring others together. You may experience digestive issues, lower back pain or a rounded abdomen (imbalances in the lower chakras). You may be hyper-vigilant, and you see more than one side of an argument. Animals and children gravitate toward you.

You use natural healing methods as part of your daily wellness routine. These methods can include meditation, yoga, herbal supplements and holistic therapies, like acupuncture and reiki. Natural healing methods are most effective when used in conjunction with conventional medicine, so be sure to work with a health care provider who is open to hearing about your holistic treatment options. It is also important to work with a practitioner who understands herb-drug interactions and is trained in safe dosages.

2. Practice gratitude

The practice of gratitude is a powerful way to start healing your life. Gratitude helps you see the good things in your life and can help you release negative thought patterns that may be holding you back from reaching your full potential. Practicing gratitude can also support your natural healing process and make it easier to cope with difficult situations. This can look like setting boundaries, limiting toxins in your environment, changing your diet, herbal remedies, communication, and more. Ultimately, healing is an automatic process of being alive and a part of every life form. It is fueled by Love, which is why it’s so important to give and receive it daily.

4. Know your limitations

If you have had mystical experiences and are highly sensitive to the energy around you, you may be a natural healer. You can feel others’ pain and emotions as though it were your own (you might be an empath). You are very intuitive and often “read” people without them saying a word, and you have a big picture view of the world and can see what is happening beneath the surface. You have a natural ability to heal the soul, spirit, mind, and body of others.

You are most at home in nature and often find yourself attracted to animals and the wilderness. You serve as a bridge between the seen and unseen realms, connecting the mountains, oceans, rivers, plants, and animals with humans. You have a deep connection to the Earth and are often called to care for her. You have vivid dreams, and the unseen realm often communicates through them.

Healers can feel other people’s physical and emotional pain as if it were their own, so they need to take care of themselves. This could look like limiting their contact with large crowds to avoid absorbing others’ angst or taking steps to clear out the toxins that have built up in their body (like cutting out junk food, reducing alcohol consumption, or seeing a therapist). It could also involve practicing spiritual healing techniques like meditation or yoga to stay grounded and clear. Ultimately, it requires a commitment to self-healing in all areas so that you can be a clear channel of Love for others.

5. Take care of yourself

You may be drawn to a career as a healer or you may find yourself tending to others’ needs on an ad hoc basis. Either way, you have a deep connection to the natural world. You feel at home surrounded by mountains, oceans, rivers, animals, and plants. This is because you are a multidimensional being that dances between the seen and unseen realms.

Your gifts of compassion, empathy, and trust are important parts of the healing process for those around you. However, it’s essential that you take the time to work on yourself too. This may include emotional and psychological healing (aka shadow work), releasing negative beliefs, practicing self-care, and engaging in spiritual practices.

Whether you are an energy worker, natural healer, or simply someone who helps people through challenging times, you need to practice self-care in order to sustain your healing efforts and avoid burnout. This includes nourishing the body with whole foods, getting enough sleep, and incorporating restorative practices like meditation and herbal teas into your daily routine. Try incorporating adaptogenic herbs like ashwagandha and holy basil (tulsi) into your diet to help balance stress and cortisol levels.

The more nourished you are, the better able you will be to serve others and the planet. If you are interested in exploring natural health options for your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing, contact us for more information about healing programs, career paths, and professional guidance.
