Natural Healer courses focus on the physical, emotional, and spiritual components of health and healing. Instructor Melissa is gifted at conveying such complex ideas with clarity and an empathy rarely found among educators.
Participatory observations revealed that most healers differentiated between diseases treatable by medical means and those related to spirit; they typically did not suggest visiting medical centers as a solution.
Traditional healers
Traditional healers are individuals who practice indigenous medicines and healing methods passed down from generation to generation in a particular community. Their role is important when access to modern medical facilities is limited; even without scientific backing for their methods, many patients still seek their advice. Traditional healing approaches tend to focus on disease prevention while healing the mind, body and spirit simultaneously – with traditional healers believing all living and nonliving entities are connected and interdependent.
West African patients frequently interact with both traditional and modern healthcare systems, creating an intricate healthcare ecosystem requiring culturally sensitive interventions. This scoping review highlights the need for further research on collaborations between biomedical practitioners and traditional healers; further providing recommendations for exploring this complex healthcare landscape.
Kalami healers
Integrating healers into interdisciplinary pain management programs offers patients many advantages by integrating spiritual, cultural and medical dimensions together for an holistic approach. However, successful integration requires openness and understanding from healthcare professionals – particularly psychiatric ones – who may otherwise hesitate to work with healers.
Healers reportedly employ the power of sacred spirits to diagnose and cure illnesses. Additionally, they communicate with plants and herbs to access their healing properties and revere each plant’s spirit by offering tobacco offerings as part of their dedication. Healers believe this helps guide them to find the appropriate herb to use when treating an individual patient.
Black magic
Black magic is a form of witchcraft which manipulates energies to harm or control individuals, often for reasons such as jealousy, revenge or reaching goals that cannot be reached any other way. Black magic may take an emotional and physical toll on those affected – sometimes leaving scars behind and distorting features or scarring altogether. Additionally, its effects have often been likened to that of a boomerang; whatever harm or pain we cause others will eventually come back around to haunt us all in some form or another.
Black magic may have taken hold if you start experiencing shadows and panic that cannot be explained otherwise. Such feelings should be immediately addressed as they can be extremely disturbing; one way of combatting negative energies and black magic is engaging in religious or spiritual activities such as prayers, chanting mantras and meditation; faith is your best defense against negative energies and black magic.
