# Malcolm Rae – Teacher, Practitioner and Inventor

Malcolm Rae was a teacher, practitioner and inventor who founded [radionics](https://alsuprun.com/) in England. Like Abrams and Hahnemann, he was an enthusiastic experimenter with a substantial private fortune, which allowed him to pursue his work even in the face of opprobrium from conventional medical doctors.

His work posits that life is information, not physical matter. This idea is echoed in quantum physics, in Jung’s concept of synchronicity, and in many genuine spiritual traditions.

## Origin

[Radionics](https://alsuprun.com/) is a system of energy healing that was founded by Dr Albert Abrams around the turn of the 20th Century. He developed methods of diagnosing and treating disease via energy frequencies. His work was often met with skepticism from the medical establishment, and he was accused of pseudoscience. However, he was an experimenter and truth seeker, and his discoveries led to remarkable results. Today, the practice continues with a wide range of practitioners and techniques.

[![Rejuvenate your whole body & balance your health without medications - now remotely!](https://alsuprun.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/BioresonanceTopAd.png)](https://www.bioresonance.rent) Abrams based his method on a concept that every organism has a unique vibrational pattern that can be used to identify and treat it. This vibrational pattern is called a rate. Abrams also formulated the theory that each individual has a life energy that holds all of their information, and that this information is transmitted by the rate. This was a revolutionary concept that led to the development of a number of instruments to balance the rates and help heal an individual.

In the early days of [radionics](https://alsuprun.com/), Abrams’s work was done at a person’s home. Using the principle of resonance, Abrams tuned his instrument to match the frequency of the patient. He would then apply a set of remedies to the patient, and the illness was often eliminated at once. Later, Abrams was able to do this over long distances without any form of link wire between himself and the subject.

After the death of Abrams, Ruth Drown continued his work under the name ERA (Electronic Reactions of Abrams). She also developed a balancing technique that worked on entire fields of plants. In this, she often used aerial photographs of the area being treated. Her approach was quite different from that of Malcolm Rae, who developed instruments with two enhancers that increased the power and clarity of energy patterns.

They were influenced by Ruth Drown’s work, but they developed their own methods and techniques as well. George de la Warr and his wife were very dedicated to this field, and they were steadfast in their belief in its validity even when they were subjected to ridicule from the scientific community.

## Techniques

The basic premise of [radionics](https://alsuprun.com/) is that everything is vibration and that vibration can be influenced by intention. The idea is that by tuning into the pattern of a disease or other energetic disturbance, one can influence it with the intention of helping that organism heal itself. The intention is transmitted through a carrier wave, usually light or sound. The work can be done at a distance, as well. This is a principle that unsettles materialists, but it is echoed in quantum entanglement, Jung’s synchronicity, and every genuine spiritual tradition that has ever talked of interconnection.

One of the key tools in the practitioner’s arsenal is the [radionic](https://alsuprun.com/) rate. While there are many ways to determine rates, most [radionics](https://alsuprun.com/) practitioners use a pendulum dowsing technique and the stick plate instrument. Ruth Drown was the first to pioneer the stick plate as an alternative to her traditional method of percussing the stomach. The theory behind the stick plate is that as one moves their finger over the surface of the knobs, there will be a point where the finger sticks more firmly to the plate than at any other setting. This is referred to as getting the stick. Once the analyst finds this setting, they record it. This is used to create a frequency for the sample material.

During the 1950’s, George de la Warr began manufacturing [radionic](https://alsuprun.com/) instruments, based on Ruth Drown’s designs. He worked to standardize these instruments and tried to bridge the gap between [radionics](https://alsuprun.com/) and science. Unfortunately for him, his efforts were met with great resistance. He was slandered by the medical establishment, and his instruments were often confiscated or destroyed. BP even tried to buy one of his devices for oil prospecting and he was forced to sever all ties with [radionics](https://alsuprun.com/).

Malcolm Rae, who grew up working on his father’s farm in England, was introduced to [radionics](https://alsuprun.com/) by his grandmother. He demystified the practice and compared the [radionic](https://alsuprun.com/) sense to a natural human sense, noting that precise thought formulation can be likened to a sort of refined sensory perception. He also developed a more advanced [radionic](https://alsuprun.com/) instrument, which was more accurate than the existing models.

## Instruments

Traditionally, [radionics](https://alsuprun.com/) has been known as a non-scientific discipline. It has been characterized as a way to surf and dialogue with subtle energy and Nature Intelligence, using the practitioner’s intuition. However, that does not mean it is anti-scientific, and many practitioners keep detailed journals of their experience.

[![](https://alsuprun.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/RadionicMerch.png)](https://alsuprun.com/merch.html) The earliest [radionic](https://alsuprun.com/) instruments were designed by Abrams, who discovered the technique in the early 1900’s. He was a bacteriologist by training and found that the act of percussing his stomach would detect a disease in his patients, if he listened carefully. This was his first step in establishing the foundation of [radionics](https://alsuprun.com/) as we know it.

In the late 1940’s Ruth Drown further refined the techniques and instruments of Abrams, developing a new form of dowsing, called radiesthesia. The process involves mentally posing questions to which one can sense a positive or negative response. Drown based her theory on the premise that there is an invisible electromagnetic charge or field surrounding all matter that contains information, and that the thoughts of the human being are part of that informational matrix.

According to Drown, if there is a thought pattern connected with a disease, then this will change the energy pattern of the body that is carrying the disease. When that happens, the body will then manifest the disease physically in some fashion. Similarly, if there is a beneficial thought pattern related to a particular disease, then the body will change its energy pattern and the disease will not manifest.

The rate at which the disease or beneficial energy pattern is manifested in the physical universe is called the ‘Rate.’ This is the number that will determine the strength of the vibrational force, and it is established through a secret formula that can be used in any instrument. The traditional method of establishing these rates was that a group of 6 dowsers would sit around a table with pendulums and [radionic](https://alsuprun.com/) machines, building them dial by dial. The Rates are accepted only if all dowsers come up with the same answer.

Malcolm Rae went a different route with [radionics](https://alsuprun.com/), and unlike Tansley and Abrams, did not work with the ‘Stick Plate’. He also did not work with a grid but rather worked with geometric forms to represent the Rates, which he felt included the right brain hemisphere more strongly in the process of analysis and balancing.

## Procedures

At the turn of the 20th Century Dr Albert Abrams discovered that certain diseases could be detected by his normal abdominal percussion, but that this only worked if the patient was facing in a specific direction. He experimented with many patients and found that a dull sound was produced when the stomach was impacted in this way, indicating that there was a disease present. This discovery is considered to be the beginning of [Radionics](https://alsuprun.com/).

After Abrams, Ruth Drown and other figures in dowsing and the radiesthesia communities further developed this work. Rather than using the black-box instruments with dials and rates, they utilised pendulums to interpret vibrations. They also used a series of mentally posed questions to obtain information about the patients that is not available to the conscious mind.

In Ruth’s case she based her analysis on the idea that the human had a life energy within which was stored the information of their health and well being. The life energy is not a physical entity, as modern quantum physics has shown us, but it is a vibrational field that holds all the information of a living thing. This is the basis for the balancing that takes place in [Radionics](https://alsuprun.com/).

Another method which evolved in the 1920s was called morphogenetics, and this involves blood samples being sent by the practitioner to be analysed by an instrument at a distance. In time this was improved and eventually it was possible to use a hair sample, saliva, urine and even fingernails to make a diagnosis. This was also the era of the telephone and Mr George de la Warr built an instrument which enabled him to work over long distances, even a mile or so.

Other developers of this form of diagnosis included David Tansley and Malcolm Rae. Tansley incorporated the ideas of Alice Bailey and aimed to move the focus of diagnosis away from organ functions and pathology towards causation in the subtle body. He also utilised a pendulum, but did not use the stick pad and instead used geometric cards representing remedies for analysis.
