# How to Build a Zapper

Clark describes a cheap circuit called a “zapper,” which she uses to kill bacteria, parasites, fungi and viruses. According to her account in “The Cure for All Diseases,” this device does not damage cells but does not work in gaseous cavities such as those under some teeth or in lungs.

 Building your own zapper can cost under $20 with components from Radio Shack. When selecting the chip, use one with sharper square waves than TTL versions as this will result in less battery drain.

 Hulda Clark was an unconventional alternative health practitioner who claimed that her “Zapper” device could heal various illnesses. ## Circuitry

 Some zappers use a passive output checker (consisting of a zener diode and resistor connected to board standoffs) as a safeguard against excessive battery current and output issues. This measure is especially essential if using a lower frequency 555 chip that produces more harmonics that could overheat its components.

 Most zappers run on 9V batteries, but you can make one that uses higher voltage by covering the positive terminal with tape and connecting an AC converter capable of producing 15V. A 555 chip used in creating the device can tolerate voltage up to approximately 15V; higher voltages may reduce effectiveness.
